HIALEAH, FL - Mayor Bryan Calvo was officially sworn in today as Mayor of the City of Hialeah during a ceremony at the Milander Center, attended by residents, community leaders, clergy, city employees, public safety professionals, and elected officials.
In his inaugural remarks, Mayor Calvo reaffirmed his commitment to leading the City with a focus on the core pillars of his administration:

Immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Calvo signed the first three Executive Orders of his administration, initiating immediate reforms aimed at strengthening oversight, accountability, and transparency in city government.

Executive Order No. 2026-01
Moratorium on the Deferred Compensation Plan for Elected Officials (Ordinance No. 2025-025)
Effective immediately, this Executive Order eliminates pension benefits for elected officials, including the mayor and members of the City Council.
Executive Order No. 2026-02
Mayor’s Cuba Business Advisory Task Force
This Executive Order establishes the Mayor’s Cuba Business Advisory Task Force (CUBAT). The Task Force will review City of Hialeah businesses that may be conducting business with Cuba and recommend executive action for those found to be in violation of the law.
Executive Order No. 2026-03
Citywide Contracts and Vendor Control
This Executive Order institutes a temporary 30-day moratorium on new and modified city contracts to allow for a full review of current and existing vendor agreements. The objective is to identify inefficiencies and wasteful spending. Preliminary contract cuts have already resulted in approximately $200,000 in savings.

Mayor Calvo will continue advancing immediate reforms with two additional Executive Orders to be signed during a press conference scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Hialeah City Hall. These measures will focus on:
- Water affordability and service priorities
- 911 response and emergency communications improvements
