HIALEAH, FL – Mayo Bryan Calvo has directed the Hialeah Housing Authority (HHA) to open its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list, providing eligible residents to apply for rental assistance. The waiting list will be open from Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. through Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 4:59 p.m.
Eligible households may submit a pre-application online through HHA's application portal during this period. Because of the expected volume of applications, applicants placed on the waiting list will be selected through a computerized random lottery. Applying earlier does not increase an applicant's chances of being selected.
The annual income limits for the program participation are as follows:
- 1 person: $47,700
- 2 persons: $54,500
- 3 persons: $61,300
- 4 persons: $68,100
- 5 persons: $73,550
- 6 persons: $79,000
- 7 persons: $84,450
- 8 persons: $89,900
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) provides rental assistance to eligible low-income families, seniors, persons with disabilities, and other qualifying households.
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and HHA's Administrative Plan.
Individuals who need a reasonable accommodation because of a disability may contact the Hialeah Housing Authority for assistance during the application process.
HHA staff will be available at the Hialeah Housing Authority office and City of Hialeah libraries to assist residents with completing the online pre-application throughout the application period.
